East Coast Allstars was established in the winter of 2007. Derrick and Kassandra Turner started with 7 people at a local park in Newcastle, Australia. After reaching 15 students they decided it was time to find an enclosed venue. They found an affordable school hall and trained there 1 and a half hours a week. Within 1 month they had boomed to just over 35 members, who were so keen and loved the sport so much that they decided to compete in the following competition season.

Knowing this, Kass and Dez started looking for a permanent place all of the students could call home. On November 25th 2007 they moved into their new warehouse on Metro Court, Gateshead and started to set it up as their new “gym.”

In January 2008 they made it compulsory to train twice a week(a total of 5 hours a week), if you wanted to compete and by the time competition came around in September they had 60 members and 3 full cheer teams.

Over the next 3 years they slowly built up their gym so it now has 1x 7 run spring floor, 1x 7m tumble track, mirrors and a hard floor tumble strip, not to mention several different training crash mats.

In April 2011 they decided to put their 2 Worlds Bid’s (that they won at the AASCF National Championships the previous November) to good use and took 1x cheer team and 1x pom team to the USASF/IASF World Cheerleading Championships in Florida, USA. The cheer team came 14th out of over 80 international best teams and the pom team came 17th out of over 45 international best teams. This was an amazing result considering they were only really 3 years old and all of the students had started as raw beginners.

East Coast Allstars kept booming all throughout that year so Kass and Dez decided it was time to look for a bigger place.

In October 2011, they moved into their new warehouse on the Pacific Highway at Gateshead and now have 1x 7 run (soon to be 9 run) spring cheer floor, 1x 7 run hard cheer floor, 1x 8 run marley dance floor, 1x 7m tumble track, a parents viewing room with kitchen, showers, 2x bathrooms, 1x office, 1x reception area and 1x store room.
